Bubble-highrise Berlin 2002
the project explores
a structural novelty, based on natural systems like corals, foam, skeletons.
Through "packing"
of different sized bubbles in a volume and then slizing it into a structural
cage,
a highly efficient
structural zone is achieved, that leaves the internal space of the highrise
building totally column free.
Similair to a natural
system, structure and facade build a "whole", instead of seperating beams
and coloumns from a cladded facade.
" it is like putting
spheres in an aquarium and shaking them until they achieve their maximal
density"
